[ARCHIVED] Utility Work Notice – Water Department Hydrovac Work Begins Monday

The City of Fremont Water Department will begin hydrovac work on Monday, February 16, 2026, as part of preparation for the Lead Service Line Replacement Project. This work helps verify water service line material types so the project can move forward efficiently.

Work Area

Hydrovac work will take place in the area bounded by Dodge Street to Military Avenue and Clarkson Street to Luther Road (see map here).

What is a Curb Stop?

A curb stop is a small underground valve, typically located near the property line, that connects the water main to a home’s service line. (See curb stop example below)

What to Expect

  • Water Department crews and hydrovac trucks in the area
  • Temporary equipment and work activity
  • Noise from excavation equipment
  • No planned water service interruptions

Restoration

Once work is complete, impacted areas will be properly backfilled and restored.

This proactive work supports federal lead service line requirements and helps ensure safe, reliable drinking water for our community.
