Welcome to Fremont! No matter what brings you here, you'll find a great sense of community. We celebrate a rich history here that goes back to 1856. Our namesake, John C. Fremont, would be amazed to see how we've grown. Let me share a small sampling of what Fremont has to offer.

Let's start on Main Street in our historic downtown. You'll find a small town atmosphere that's friendly, and inviting. Explore antique shops galore, enjoy amazing baked goods and make sure to stop at a local cafe. Shopping choices include sporting goods, clothing and bridal wear. If you're here for lunch or dinner, your choices abound, from classic Italian to Nebraska's best steak.

Ready for some fun? Make sure to visit the Fremont State Lakes for all kinds of recreational activities - boating, camping, hiking, biking or just pure relaxation. If you're looking for something a little quieter, take in the serenity of one of our beautiful city parks.

Fremont is a community of 26,342 with a strong agribusiness economy. We're just 25 miles northwest of Omaha with expanding residential development and commercial business parks. Thanks to a recent expansion, our municipal airport is ideal for both corporate jets and private aviation.

Hormel is one of Fremont’s largest employers. Did you know that Fremont holds the Guinness World Record for the Largest Open faced Sandwich? We called it a SPAMwich and we're pretty proud of the community spirit that earned the record. It was a great opportunity to let the rest of the country know that Fremont is one of the top two SPAM exporters nationwide.

Our tremendous quality of life here in Fremont is enhanced by easy access to quality healthcare and education right here at home. Equipped with leading technology, Fremont Area Medical Center (FAMC) attracts some of the most talented doctors in the region. FAMC is our second largest employer, and a great community supporter.

Parents know that our public and private grade schools are also top notch . And for undergraduate degrees or continuing higher education, Fremont is home to both Midland University and Metropolitan Community College.

As Mayor of Fremont, I hope you enjoy your time in Fremont. If you're visiting, please come see us again soon!
