May 5, 2014 – U.S. Supreme Court rejects challenge to Fremont’s immigration law

In 2012, U.S. District Judge Laurie Smith Camp struck down the rental requirement as a violation of housing safeguards and the federal government’s authority to regulate immigration.

A year later, in a 2-1 decision, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the ruling, finding that the Ordinance doesn’t discriminate against Latinos or interfere with federal immigration laws.
May 5, 2014 The U.S. Supreme Court chose not to review the case, which means the 8th Circuit decision stands.
